Question for Pauly - have you actually used it and if so do you get backfires when warm? I have just fitted a Y-piece and Remus Can and once the engine is warm, I daren't rev it too hard (unless I want to, in which case it's "Vrooooooommmm..... Bang. Vrooooommmm.... Bang"?????

Gezzar,
I don't really want to take less than £120 for it. It was an unwanted gift (I've already got a y-piece fitted to my 1150GS). It's absolutely brand new, unused and still in the bubble wrap. I was thinking of fitting it in place of my one as it looks a lot better quality but I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle:) Let me know what you think.

Sid,
I have been running my GS with a Y-piece and the standard can up until now and I get the occasional backfire, mainly on the overrun. You have to be careful to seal the joins with high temperature sealent. I have just fitted a Scorpion oval can but haven't had a chance to try it out yet to see whether this makes the backfiring worse. Has your Remus got removable baffles and if so have you removed them? That might make a difference to the backfiring.

Paul

not at all sure you'll ever cure the backfires entirely without a re map of the ECU, via a BB power chip perhaps?

mine used to backfire sometimes with y piece & std. can. now with y piece, revolution, techlusion fi box + steptoe link it does it rarely while moving, but still does it occasionally at standstill if revved.

Pauly - how's the new can going now then?

More or less backfires?

If I had "occassional" backfires, I wouldn't be concerned but I daren't even "blip" going down through the gears and I can 100% guarantee a "bang" if I rev a warm engine at standstill to around 3,000 revs. nb The baffles are NOT removable!

Should I also be concerned about the 38mpg?

Sid,

I've been out a couple of times with the new can fitted and I don't think it backfired at all. I'll probably go for a long run on Saturday so I'll let you know after that. Have you checked all your joins for air leaks?

Gezzar,

I got the cheque yesterday, thanks very much for that. Once it has cleared I will send on the Y-piece. I tried to send an email to the address you gave me but I don't think you received it.

Thanks again,

Paul

Y-piece on its way

Gezzar,

The Y-piece was posted this afternoon via Parcel Force - £8.35, what a rip off :-(
Unfortunately, they said you were unlikely to receive it before xmas. How bad is that?
If you want the tracking number, let me know your email address or give me a ring at home. Can you let me know when you get it?

Thanks,

Paul

Pauly - can & Y-piece fitted by Mr BM so I do hope they used the right amount and type of sealant!

As we're off to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia next June I don't really want/need to be accompanied by a constant sound of gunfire! (especially after reading about Charley Boormans and Ewans adventures!)

Crazy Horse - you're right!!!
