If ya go with regular 'Dino Oil' then 80-90wt.
Or if your a 'synthetic man' then 75-140wt.
In my case,I'm using the synthetic blend 75-140(the new stuff that is red in color) in the final drive as well as the trans. Seemed to help the shifting on the ol' RT,so why not on the new 'problem riddled' GS.

Redline heavy shockproof in mine, and gearbox too - http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp?productID=44&subCategoryID=16&categoryID=6

Any noticable difference in shift quality or heat in the fd casing with that oil Gavin?

Yes, FD does run cooler, shifting is improved, i changed the oil to Redline at just over 1000 miles, 11,000 miles now, no problems and original FD,on a 2004 GS.
