I draw the line at snow and ice but apart from that use my 1100 all year round. I could have done with a heated vest this morning on the motorway section of my commute though. Brrrrr!

Last year we really got caught with our "kex" down - a heavy overnight snowfall and nothing had been gritted. After one and a half hours in the company car (a demonstration vehicle) and having travelled less than two and a half miles I rang work and told them I was going home to get my bike or I could stay at home.
The fun part was getting my bike to the bottom of the street where I live, it is quite steep and cobble stoned but after a bit (sorry LOT) of wheelspinning I eventually managed to get it uphill before turning round at the top and making a very easy and stable descent to the bottom.
Yes I do use my bike all year round - I wish I could use it for commuting but as my company car is always "up for sale" and has to be on site, I only manage to ride on my one day a week off, if I manage to fit in between domestic chores, or on my one weekend a month off - but when I do get out .............. :thumb

All weathers, all year, apart from snow.

All weathers, all year, and snow.

No car, two bikes, ride all year. But, likely to have the day off or start late if the road is icy or there is snow.

Ride my baby all year round..all weathers ( Wife has the car for kids )...then once at work change her for another trusty steed

Interesting and suprising results, at least for me. I bet there aren't another group of bike owners where the large percentage ride all year round. I wonder how many of these will be on 11XX's and how many on 12's or is that to divisive. Also, why I never see anyone else out on the road if there are so many off us.

Bob......I'd like to think it was a high percentage of GSers that ride all year round, but sadly I suspect it isn't.....don't forget the silent Majority who probably don't venture out much at all over the cold months but who won't post about it.

I'd certainly agree that percentage wise, GS's are probably better represented on the winter roads than nearly any other Marque though.

I...

ride mine everyday, this is my second winter as a rider, and only leave my GS at home when it's icy. Haven't yet had the chance to try it on snow as we haven't had any yet.

Only when icy I take the car. All the rest is done by GS adventure. Didn't get the opportunity to try out some snow though.

Heated clothing

On the advice of Andy "Judge" Hobdell I have just got myself Gerbing'd. I've never let the cold stop me riding, but I will be doing a fair bit more social riding from now on.

Good to see we're nearly all ruffty tuffties, ice on the pudles or not, couldn't resist a ride out this morning - envious of Franco's 13 degrees C at this time of year tho' - but not so sure about the 40+C down there in summer

Come again?

....as opposed to this sort of set up for "anti-social" mid-winter riding, I suppose:-

Heated clothes.........

When it gets cold i just stick a jumper on under my jacket :D

Saying that.. would like some tips on how to ride in snow and ice without dropping it.

Missing an option: I bought my Adventure as a winter hack although I have occasionally used it in the summer in the same way as my main bike gets used all year round
