Years to avoid on the waterboxer

I've picked up a new GS Rallye last Saturday, only done 240 miles on it, but I would say my Oct 2013 GS LC is identical to the new one on clutch/gearbox function, (I must have had a good one) although the keyless ride is nice, as is the excellent brake assist hill start function.
The suspension is a tad more refined, smoother over the speed bumps etc, also the heated grips actually work..

My old GS was one of the first models with the updated white springs & steering damper. Amazing bike..!

Hope this helps guys..

My 2013 GS owned for 9 months 5000 miles on the clock the heated grips are perfect, gearbox is fine apart from the odd clunk into first and its way smoother than my 2008 GS and the bike steers as good if not better than any I have owned and thats a list.
Overall all very happy with it.

Hi, Michelin Annakee on new bike, yes they're noisier than my old bike which had Conti Trial Attack, also if I'm honest the old bike turned in better than the new Rallye.. I would have another pair of the Contis again..

Nothing wrong with a private sale if the seller bought it from a dealer - the 2 year approved used warranty is transferable.

Just be happy with the gearbox on the one you are interested in they vary a lot for all years! There is nothing wrong with the early bikes if you get a good one. My 2015 isn't any better than my 2013 although it does have GSAP which I love.

Good luck

Absolutely spot on.

My 2013 LC has 20k miles on it brought by me new, it has a perfectly decent gearbox, heated grips cook my hands, no need of a steering damper and the paintwork is absolutely fine. I've ridden a couple of later model GS and GSA's whilst mine has been in for service and my only gripe on those was the quick shifter was shite on a 2015 GSA, no doubt just needed adjusting. However, having seen some of the atrocious quality issues on here I'm often tempted to keep mine long term, "better the devil you know" but I fancy a GSA.

My 42k mile, 2013 is fine.

Clunks into 1st and hard to find neutral at times but nice and smooth otherwise. No corrosion, but it did spend it's first 3 years in Spain. Heated grips were fine for its first UK winter. It would cost me £7-9k depending on spec to get a new one and it's not a sufficient improvement.

Well ive done it and bought a 2015 gsa,the first gear selection is ok when cold but kerunnnch with warm..interesting watch this space

I always leave mine in first gear when out and about and it's on its side stand and only change to 1st when still moving. Avoids the embarrassing noise!
