I've noticed on a german website a set of aluminium yolks with a three bolt set up for the pinch bolts, these, while expensive, would appear to be part of the answer to the twisting of the forks under heavy braking with a single disc set up.

Does anyboby know if these yolks are set so the existing fork legs and wheel spindle and its spacers can be used, or is it a built it all up from the yolks job (not a problem but i've already rebuilt the wheels so I would like to keep the original wheel.

They seem to come with a 50mm to 45mm adapters, my bike is a para 88 R100GS

The yolks are on Boxxer parts or Similar site.

Well mine squirmed about a fair bit under very heavy braking even on TKC's, on stripping i did find the rear of the frame/subframe fasteners were less than tight I suppose it could be just that, along with a tired/poorly strung wheel. Also the steering head bearings were fekked and that can't of helped!

The cost of the brace looks far more acceptable to me:thumb2

Hey Shep...the word is 'yoke' in our lingo.

It won`t matter a jot to fork twisting or to fork flex if the yokes have two pinch bolts, three pinch bolts, four pinch bolts or a dozen of them.

As said previously, fit a fork brace and feel the difference.

It`s a piece of pish to make one.....(or cheap to get one made)....I just used a piece of flat plate which I rolled and folded to fit between the XTZ750 forks on my old LegoBike and it worked just as well as any overpriced catalogue bling part.

San Jose BMW have a similar brace for a good bit less.

Dont expect a big improvement unless there is a fault with the existing set up - the GS forks are reasonably rigid anyway , at least compared to the earlier air head forks.

I think the triples with the 3 bolts were intended for fitting WP or similar large diameter fork legs.

As above the brace makes all the difference. But!

If your experiencing alot of weve when braking then I would think seriously about having the foks fully serviced. Replacing the upper and lowwer bushes will mak them feel like a totaly different set of forks. Obviously new oil and seals too.

You've mentioned the head set bearings need doing, thais will add to the benefit as well. Also look at the wheel bearings front and rear, swing arm bearings could have an influence too. The loose subframe wouldn't have done you any favours either.

The bottom yoke solution is probably 'as mentioned by Tarka' not only very expensive but will infact offer little or no dicernable bennefit at all.

If you planning to have a go at making your own fork brace. Make it as short and straight as you can possibly get away with and make the bolt holes at exact to the bolt sizes as you can.
