Just back in and warming up:blast

5 of us met up in Masham Market Place, this morning - myself, PaulXC from Cheshire,KMD, Andy E and Lordie

Yesterday it was -3 and today it was +8.................but rain was the order of the day and low cloud on the fells:eek

3 of us were on 650's and KMD was on his WR250 (sensible fella), with Andy E on a new latest 12GSA (with Tourances:eek:)

After a couple of lanes, Andy E called it a day, as he'd dropped the big Adv 5 times on the first two easyish lanes - brave man and hope you got back ok

The rest of us carried on (after PaulXC had escorted Andy back to the black top:thumb)

Met some very friendly ramblers near Slipstone Craggs, who supported our quest

The lanes were wet and snotty, with the weather wet and very cold................not the best, but we were having fun

All was going well until we went over towards Stalling Busk

Ice was still prevalent on the upper fells and we were greeted by sheet ice:eek:

Luckily I managed to get up without any hassle:P

But the others weren't do lucky and really suffered

Good opportunity for me to take some pics of the sequence of events:augie

So after 'Dancing on Ice' and Paul getting a puncture it was after 1pm, so we headed back to the RV point, to have lunch at the Border cafe in Masham to warm up

Unluckily for me I hit a cock Pheasant at 50-60mph on the road when it flew up and caught me smack on the left shoulder.........wrenching my hand off the bars.

I stayed on and the bird went up 30 feet in the air, before plummeting to the ground..........stone dead.

Lucky for me, but not the pheasant:eek

Cheers for your company, I stayed shiny side up all day and there were no serious incidents with the others and I enjoyed the ride

Hope the others aren't too sore and the bikes are in one piece, more or less

I'll do another offroad ride soon

Excellent JB. I have to confess I was too busy trying to stay upright to notice a camera! Really enjoyed the company and the ride, all was going really well til you managed to find the biggest patch of ice in North Yorkshire!;) (and on a hill too, how entertaining was that !)

Only a bent brake lever here, but after seeing the belt that pheasant gave your shoulder I'll count myself lucky:D I thought you did well to keep the bike on course.

Look forward to doing it again:thumb2

Looks like I bailed out in time  though I only seem to remember dropping it 3 times before I quit (unless I've forgotten a couple) :hide

Thanks to you all for the morning, I really enjoyed what I did manage to do (except for the horizontal moments) and I will return when it's warmer, drier and I've got some TKCs and had some practice on someone elses bike!

No damage to the bike other than (another) dent in one of the rocker cover guards and a bent tax disc holder.

Great to meet you all and I'll no doubt see you again :thumb2

And to think I missed all the fun :eek::eek:

Just as well as the Dakar is being seviced and the few skills I have on the 1200 :toungincheek:toungincheek:toungincheek would have seen me happily join the "failed to complete brigade":aidan:aidan:aidan

Nice one Johnny though I'll take your easy peasy trails with a pinch of salt in future:thumb:thumb:thumb

Easy...................never even put my feet down:augie

Guess the Trials events that I've been doing for years has paid off.................... for something

Great day JB, The adverse conditions made it more of an adventure! I think I fell off more times today within half an hour than I did during the whole two week moto-morocco trip!
The hardest part of the day (and funniest thinking back!) was trying to pick the bikes up off sheer ice on a steep slope with absolutley no foot grip whatsoever!!
"Shiny side up all day" JB?! I am sure I witnessed you falling off pauls bike, trying to get it up the ice:augie:thumb

Hope to ride / slide with you all again soon!!:D:thumb2

Just saw this tonight:blast, you lot should be just about warmed through by this time. Well done to you all:clap

That sheet icing looked interesting though

Just got me a KLX 650 and been gagging to take it out, would have thrown a sickie:augie if I had seen the invite earlier.

hurry up and organise another JB:thumb2

Well done again

Richie:beerjug:

Excellent day out ...cheers gentlemen.:thumb2

One puncture & one snapped footpeg was the only damage.

You can't quite appreciate from this picture how funny sliding on the ice was

Looking forward to riding up there again perhaps in the dry thou.

Paul

That was me and Lordie getting UP (or trying to) after at least one of us (that'll be me then) had slid, helpless, about ten feet down on my arse! It was comical How JB got up that clean I'll never know.
