I've just come back from 2300 miles, in the Alps on the big 1150GSA, so it was fantastic to get out on a 110kg bike for a change

Heavy overnight rain had dampened the dust, just enough................so a 80 mile spin over the North Yorks National Park was in order

Great views over the Vale of York - fantastic 'big skies' - buy how they changed in space of 5 hours between pic 1 and 2 (I managed to dodge that heavy shower)

There are some very expensive stone bridges from yesteryear in North Yorkshire.............. on these 'roads to nowhere in particular' now

One of my favourite lanes, like a green carpet spread out in front of me with a nice shady stream to cross at the bottom

Climbing up into Bransdale now, onto miles and miles of trails, atop the heather

Fantastic views on the grouse moors

About 80 miles in total, with at least 35 miles offroad, I guess

No disgruntled walkers (only saw about 6-8 and they were chatty and smiling)

No obstinate farmers

No nit-picking NP Wardens

Away from the hustle and bustle, high up into the fells - you can't get better in summer

Britain has some stunning countryside, to rival anywhere in Europe

Very nice!

I get my x challenge in a week or so,so would love to have a ride on the trails there.

Ah .... Blakey Ridge, one of my favourites too :thumb
A light lunch at the Lion Inn or did you take sandwiches?

Good one JB :thumb

No time for snacks, 12 lanes done.... although I did have a crafty sausage roll, from those great Yorkshire bakers, Thomas of Helmsley on the way home :)

Actually on reflection, sarnies would have been good because there were some superb spots for a picnic

JB, you are not wrong, views to rival anything in Europe . Popped on here before I start applying second coat of gloss to me bay window. Transported to one of my favourite bits of country and trail riding too. Oh the nostalgia. Lovely memories. Oh and a fine chance to relax while Julie's out.

Am trying to convince Julie that we can afford a couple of days in Masham as a base to do the 21 Dales run. Poss Sept if interested JB.

Keep them posts coming my man. :thumby:
