Yorkshire Glory ....a Recreational Trail Ride

Less of the poncing about on a pogo and more of the writing of a Stella Alpina Ride report. :rob

:D

Looks fantastic. I am so envious. I wish I had that in my doorstep.

Having a caravan in Rosedale I spent half my riding time in the North York Moors.
But,I do feel as though I'm missing out on some great lanes, definately going to have to get myself an XR 250.
I did plan on getting a CRF 250 this year but with the impending house move a new bike and a new car for Jo this year finances need to be watched.

What I wouldn't give for your local knowledge John, always inspired when I see your write-ups from the Moors, keep it up. :thumb

Cheers Steve, luckily I was schooled 20 years ago by a master in the black art of trail riding and lanes

Sadly gone to the great green fields above, he even died on the trail - such was his enthusiasm

That info was a bit like 'the knowledge', but even today it's easier with all the online help, once you study it and even in the last year, I've found 3-4 new lanes which were previously never used, but all legit

Finding new lanes, gives a great deal of satisfaction................like cracking a nut and getting one over the authorities, whilst most farmers are completely fine with responsible use

Yesterday was a solo day, just steady away & mooching about in all that scenery - nothing too hardcore, challenging, but not crazy hard

When you get an XR, always welcome to join me

North yorks

Yes you can't beat it:rolleyes:

Actually on reflection, sarnies would have been good because there were some superb spots for a picnic

Had some crackin' picnics up there over the years ... as you say, some superb spots :thumb

On advanced motorcycle training courses we used to get two or three 'long runs' in on the three week courses. Collect a packed lunch from the canteen and off we go, agency card for the petrol if we needed it, maybe a little overtime but we would never claim it ... how could we

I used to take them for some mild 'off roading' experience, occasionally one would drop a 'bike but it was repairable at the taxpayers expense :blast
Came in handy if they made it on to motorcycle patrol for chasing the scroatbags over the pit tips'n back lanes :D

Here we are 'picnicking' on Glaisdale Moor (August 1990) You'll probably know it, comes out in Glaisdale village ;)

nice pic - nice seeing 'proper' bikes off road :D

It's a shame how most of those trails have been right royally ****ed by 4x4 and over abusive use - you could drive cars on many of those then, and we did...pretty doubtful these days unfortunately.

And of course there has been very little NYCC or NYMNPA maintenance of these 'highways' too

Shameful :(
