shouldve done a search here first.
Left indicator stopped working on 2001 1150 GS (apparently its common) and apparently the indicators need to work for the MOT. Sticking yer arm out isnt good enough.

Stripped it down, its a f***ked piddly little microswitch, must be pennies to replace if you can find one.
BMW want £195 for the switch unit :blast, you cant get parts, when I asked if it was in warranty, they said as its low mileage (115000) I may have a chance but I think they were kidding:D:D.

The microswitch hunt begins (or bodge it for the MOT and use my arm)

how about the new and second hand parts place very near your location
John

Post a picture if u can and maybe there is an alternative switch u can use

I believe if your bike doesn't have indicators, you can pass the MOT by sticking your arm out. So you could just remove the indicators completely.

I have a feeling that Aidan did a write-up here about indicator micro switches and how to repair them with off the shelf parts from Farnells or someone similar.

Worth a search anyway :thumb2

Tape your indicators up in black tape and use your arms :-)

If they're on the bike they must work. If you take them off you can use hand signals. Although I bet that whole rule only applies now to much older motorcycles.
Some bike cop may know....... On second thoughts unlikely. Ask the mot man to look in the rule book.

Thread is here: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10306

Switches you need are here:

Problem is delivery £12 or so, which doubles the price

If you order, get a couple for me and I'll split postage? Or you could round up a few more Tossers and do a bulk order.

best way is to fix the indicators really...

they do cookie, unless you take all the lights off, or its a one seater offroad type bike. some people dont read full threads or links

this is my solution (BMW wanted £195) actual cost nowt

original Microswitch fubared so... I found a push button microswitch in the shed, pulled the wires out and drilled a hole in the L.H. switch thingy. fitted new switch. not pretty but then the GS is looking a bit of a shed anyway so who cares. cost..bugger all.
£195 saved to spend on beer:beerjug::beer:

And if I could be arsed to find out how to reduce file size of pics and load em up Id show you the result (122 kb..a joke)
