My usually impeccable Mid 2009 Unibody Macbook has been really slow since I installed Yosemite, not surprising really as it's approaching 6 years old. I did the usually things - Repair disc permissions, reset pram etc. I did some digging online and it appears that ideally Yosemite needs 4gb of RAM to run smoothly. Checked mine and it's been struggling on with it's original 2gb installed at the factory.
Went on Fleabay and bought 2x banks of 2gb RAM (£17 delivered
) and have just installed it ........ Jaysus Christ what a difference ...... It's like a new machine!!
So, the moral of the story is, if you've got an older Mac and it's feeling a little sluggish these days, have a look at how much RAM you have, you might be surprised how easy it is to bring it right up to scratch!!
