You don’t see them in this condition anymore….

Lovely, the ST4S they same dealer have at £5k is also a belter.

I'd happily give either a good home...

I wonder whether it would be more cost effective to buy that 1100 and sell my tatty one, or spend the money with the likes of Mikeyboy to bring mine up to a decent standard (mine isn't quite run in as it only has 24k miles but spent a fair amount of it's life outside prior to my ownership so isn't nearly that tidy). Mine does have (working) heated grips though...

No contest stick with what you have, get it to the likes of a professional like MikeyBoy to look over.
A garage queen, sat in a shed for years with extremely low mileage, has most likely got unseen damage done will sat doing nothing for so many years.
Your bike has had a life, and can run and run with good maintenance.

If it runs and rides fine then it's not worth £4k + for cosmetics... 24k or 4k will be mutch the same wear wise. The garage won't have paid even £4k for that so these nearly new old bikes are just valued with a pin waiting for a buyer to come along... Who will then not want to use it to preserve it's value etc...

this is nice on their site in my view - with only one owner from new
I could venture around France listening to the pipes on that rather happily

Yes, I had a 1000SS for a while with a set of Ducati Performance cans on it... it was lovely, such a deep and mellow sound, loud but not intrusive.
