I was on my travels over the weekend and met a chap who kept this in his dining room. I wish my wife was as understanding :D
Only about 800 were ever made and only 100 exist now apparently: can anyone guess what it is?

Spot on Nick :clap It's a1926 Nimbus 'Stove pipe'. A real work of art

He also had the later version on a platform beside the top of the stairs. The gent owns 9 Nimbus in all.

Very nice :thumb What gets me about these is just how neat and compact they are for a 4 cylinder bike. If they could do this 80 odd years ago why do we have the heavy, bulky and complex shite we have these days :nenau

I think Lincolnshire Police used a couple of these until the early 60's

beautiful

that second one...
up so high ...

must be a Cumulus Nimbus. :augie

after a quick 5 second look at the bike, i can conclude that whichever Einstein made this up clearly doesn't know what constitutes a 'tube' ... :mmmm

The no tubes bit really applys to the second generation M/Cs made after 1928 up to 1960. Unless you want to be really pendantic and point out the forks are not flat metal.

Not pedantic, tubes can be tubular or rectangular

Very nice ...

... but what is the plural of Nimbus

I was thinking ...

To Nimbus, tre Nimbus, fire Nimbus, .masser af Nimbus.............. etc etc etc is the Danish translation :D

... more along the lines of Nimbi, or may Nimbularté

I think you will find Nimbus are special and should be referred to the way we use say, bread: You don't go to the bakers and say you want some breads or breadses. So it is with Nimbus, which is also bread I believe. What a coincidence.

nimbii

Its NOT fair.... this bloke has 9...... count 'em.....NINE.....

but they stay inside his house and dont get ridden.

FFS..... they need to be removed from him...... and released into the wild where they belong. I will happily take the first one, and actually ride it out in the open air where it was designed to be.

Im starting a petition: " Free the Nimbus nine! "

Anyone else want to give a neglected Nimbus a good home where he/she can be freed from slavery and let loose on the world ?
