Don't they always use AOHell in the movies? I'm sure there must be a solution for you out there somewhere!

You can set any sound file to play on incoming mail if you use Lotus Notes as you mail client.

Horible programme though :(

There are also various add-on applets that will do it....and if you use MSN Mesenger, it'll periodically check your mail and ping up a box Bottom-right of screen saying 'you have x new messages'.......it does take up ram though, and can leave your machine open to attack if you don't have a decent firewall that's properly set up.

If you really do want to do it, doa google search for e-mail notification or similar, they should pop out nicely.

In Outlook 2002 you do the following:

Tools - Options from the menu

In Preferences click E-MAIL OPTIONS button. In this screen you can ask it to display a message if you want.

Click ADVANCED E-MAIL OPTIONS and you can ask it to play a sound, flash the mouse cursor, or display a mail icon in the status bar.

I'd advise against playing sounds or displaying messages if you get lots of mail!

Try Incredimail , I have used it for some time and I love it. You can choose your notifiers and loads of skins as well. It deals with junk and blocks what aver you want it to block and can sort your mail into different files should you so wish.

all versions of outlook puts an envelope icon in the system tray when you have mail AFAIK.

outlook 2003 does indeed briefly display a message, upon mail receipt, in bottom right of my pc. give's first line of mail so you can decide to ignore if it's not interesting enough.

Yes, on a mac it is continuous if you use Apples Mail program.

Pic shows the screen dock with mail telling me there are 21 new messages.
