I have been thinking about the GS for some time and the final straw was reading Neil Pearts book 'Ghost Rider'.
Started researching the GS and was set on the 1200GS in spring BUT another thread convinced me that the 2003 sorted model will be better than the 2004 12 month 'glitch model'.
Test ride this morn then a bloody 'impulse' purchase (my usual consideration period is six years!). I'm blaming it all on this forum.
She's a brand new R1150GS in blue+white with ABS, panniers and adventure screen. I've had every sports bike going but this one excites me the most.
I feel like i've just joined the best club ever!

Initiation Ceremony

Don't worry about the pint of "Chicken Stock" and resist the encouragement to eat the Banana Skin. (it's a wind up!) Surprising what you'll do with a blindfold on. Couldn't see point of having a tea-bag on my nose though.

I'll pre-empt the folks who’ve been here for ages … welcome to the mad house. :D

And I'll pre-empt some of the other folks who've been here for ages.... TOSSER!

Welcome to personal abuse (in stark contract to self abuse) :D

Seriously though, it is 11 months since I got my GS and the grin hasn't stopped. Those first couple of weeks were good but the real highlight for me came after the 1st service when I could really start to abuse it (the bike)

Wadda treat you missed last weekend - see the 'Events' thread for the 12th October Lakes & Dales ride out. 52 GS's in convoy (sorry 51 + very welcome guest)

Apparently, York radio had an irate caller phone in about the bunches of hooligans charging about on the Yorkshire roads and spoiling their drives out in their Allegro's (presumably complete with string back gloves...)

Welcome to GS-land.:D
