You lot seem to know a thing or two

Can anyone recommend an Adventure style textile jacket and trousers. That's both breathable and waterproof without having to swap liners in and out. Especially something that doesn't cost a gazillion quid. Does such an item exist ?

This lovely British weather is getting just a tad annoying, with clear blue skies and 20+ degrees one minute, then wind and rain and 10 deg the next. By the time you've stopped to put your liners in your soaked. Then 5 minutes later the sun is out and your sweating only having to stop again to take your liners out. (Arghhhh!)

Your best (and cheapest) recommendations are most welcome.

:D

I travel the UK for a week a month doing tree surveys an am fed up with the same issue.

Currently have a Frank Thomas AT suit that I've had for years. And a Spidi over suit for when it rains.

All to cumbersome when jumping on and off the bike. I think I may have to bite the bullet and go Rukka!

Klim Traverse jacket hits the waterproof and has direct vents, ie the airflow hits you not a liner, but it isn't lined, and which when closed are waterproof. So I use an outlast fleece to help dampen the temperature fluctuations.

For me it works well as a 3 seasons UK suit, and, last year went down to Croatia where it rained severely until mid Germany, cold going over the passes in Austria, and was warm and sunny in Croatia.

If you don't want a liner you need Goretex Proshell. if you dont want to go Rukka have a look at the new Dainese range with Goretex Proshell. I think however if you wait a year lots of other manufacturers will have Proshell next soon and the prices will drop.

Hi, I had the same dilemma and ride in traffic around London, so needed a suit for touring, london commute and must be used all year. On a budget as well. OK, I don't look like a million dollars in a twat suit but it works....I bought a Spada (have no name but similar to this http://www.thebikerstore.co.uk/products/ARMR-Moto-Katsura-Hi%2dVis-Yellow-Jacket.html. 3 years now and still dry as a bone. Has removable liner, vents on sleeves, shoulders and back. for £125 I am a very happy camper. No leaks but the cuffs are a bit tight to get over gloves so that is an area that needs improving. For the money, it is lasting, all zips are still easy and it does a good job!
Trousers: Halvarsson Zen £225 if you look around. Again, brilliant kit. Comfy, more professional than the jacket and great customer servive (zip started slipping so replaced free). Liner removes inside, thigh vents and very comfortable.

I have a Klim Latitude jacket (not the trousers yet) which is a Goretex outer shell and think it is a great bit of kit. :thumb

For me the only sensible thing is to have the top surface waterproof. I see no point in laetting the rain soak through toop layers before it reaches a waterproof one. So I buy cheap gear and have waterproof overs - much, much easier when camping/travelling. ...... and more money for jaunts away.

I bought a Rukka suit from George White before they went belly up at a 50% saving (probably one of the reasons they went under:rolleyes:) and am more than happy with it.:thumb Saying that though, as soon as it warms up, I'll ditch that and wear jeans and a jacket!:D
