I led a group from my local bike club across to Ypres at the weekend and here is the POI breakdown of the trip.

I had originally planned a few too many stops around the Salient and ended up deleting some on the hoof. I thought it better to do it that way rather than run out of things to do. As it was we had a good day and had enought ime to do the stops justice.

This means we'll have another trip across in the Autumn. I'll post an "open invite" nearer the time.

Good stuff - I didn't know about the trench of death. One to watch out for on a future trip :thumb2

I want to go back to Ypres again, maybe later this year.
I enjoyed my little two day visit with my lad but would quite like a few more days looking around, I think Ypres is a lovely little town.

I agree, especially when compared to Albert on the Somme!

Very true. We went to the Somme on the 90th Anniversary of the Battle but on the 16th when my Granddad's Cousin William died of wounds in the dressing station at Corbie near Albert.

Albert was basically closed and "desolé" was all we heard when we tried to get lunch. Ypres serving until well gone 3pm.

I could sit outside in Ypres and drink Leffe till the cows come home

But after two visits to the Somme I'm glad they've got a McDonalds in Albert, but I can recommend 'Le Poppy' at La Boiselle on the D929 :)

In Ypres definitely do the "In Flanders Fields" museum in the Cloth Hall. From the points we went to, Yorkshire Trench is small but well worth the look and then I'd defo "do" Tyne Cot and Vancouver Corner.
