Z900RS I have never ridden one before, its great

A great review and a big up for taking it back out in those conditions; for me they are the best and most authentic retro on the market; i had a Z1B in the seventies and that 900 taps right into my old pleasure gland just looking at it; i have ridden one when they first came out but it was just too small for me and the Mrs and i ended up with the SX which i still have; my mate has the yellow ball with the Ohlins and gold wheels and fork legs and it's stunning;; cheers for your post you've set me off wanting again; :drool (y)

They’re great fun. My lad had one and I rode it whilst visiting him in Chamonix, brilliant around the Alps but I wouldn’t have wanted to ride from here in Yorkshire to there.

I loved it much more than I was expecting
I got back on my Multistrada and it felt like a bag of nails

I had one of these, without the quick shifter, but the box was pretty good so clutchless up shifts were no problem

I liked the positive neutral finder, shame all manufacturers don’t have them

The engine in these is an absolute peach, bags of torque for a 4 pot and definitely feels like more than 109 bhp when you give it some stick, it’s also the smoothest engine I’ve ever owned, and the stock exhaust sounds gorgeous

The paint finish is excellent on these too

Is it 109 bhp I got different figures off the net ?

Seems they were 110 hp when I had mine in 2020, they’ve gone up to 115 hp for 2026

Hard to know exactly as different web sites quote hp or European cv but it’s somewhere close to that

The paint was stunning

Have they sorted the fueling now? A colleague had one and was complaining about the throttle on off and had his bike mapped. Then on later bikes Kawasaki welded the ecu cradle shut, so they knew if you sent the ecu off or mapped it.

Great looking bike :)

Didnt notice any fuelling issues at all

Thanks Mike, was interested to see what you made of it - Like you, I'd never ridden one but admired them from afar. I had an old '78 Z1000 all through the '90s and bought another to restore a few years ago because I like to looks and feel of an old Zed. I'm just back from a holiday we've been planning for ages to Japan and I treated myself to a days hire on a Z900RS close to Mt Fuji. Was fantastic - great roads and getting to know the bike for a good length of time. Like you found out - a peach of an engine, beautiful looks and really engaging to ride. I can definitely see one of these in my future sometime. Cheers for all you do on getting those videos out, I'm always keen to watch the next one when it comes around (y) Zed3.jpg
