Hi guys,

I'm considering replacing my bmw system cases with Zegas (35lts on both sides for symmetry) and wonder how does it interfere with the passenger comfort?

Do you use the touratech locks? Sure they look cheap in the catalog pictures. Any comments on that?

regards,
Mane

No problems.

They work fine, but don't expect super security.
With a decent screwdriver you can pop the latches open for sure.

Cheers,
Michel

I have an Adventure with 35L Zegas and have had no complaints from the wife when she goes pillion. The comfort just isn't an issue, but if you are touring 2 up, you may need the bigger panniers - as I seem to fill both of mine on my own.

Re the security, I just bought 2 sets of small but quality padlocks for mine and use them whenever I can't keep an eye on the bike. They are not perfect - they would probably put off an oportunist thief, but if someone is determined to get in, sadly they will.

Zegas and Pillion

I use the 35 end 41 standard set on an ADV and my pillion had no bother even with roll top bags on the lids and an ADV top box! my pillions only lickle (5ft) and has no problems with the seat either when on nice tarmac or bouncing around icelands rough roads! Fitted TT locks to my boxes cos little padlocks were a bit fiddly! Still use them sometimes though but like the guy says, a good screwdriver or not so good crowbar.......!!

Got the 41 litre Zonderset on my Adv.

I don't take a pillion often but never had any complaints (in fact on Christmas Eve ride a first-timer commented that they made her feel more secure).

I've got the keyed locks fitted. I only think of them as defence against curious "I wonder what's in there" types. The latches have the hole for a padlock so they can be added if you feel the need and like the accompanying rattle!

some velco, one half stuck on the padlock and the other half stuck on the pannier stops all that.................. :thumb

Just though that someone reading this thread, may be interested in the Touratech pannier locks advertised on e-bay HERE

Have done thousands of miles on 1150GS two-up with Zegas and no complaints about them getting in the way. If your'e going for the extra expense of matching sizes, remember that the cut out for the exhaust loses around 2l so it might be worth considering the 41l ones. I believe this set up is narrower than the plastic B.M.W. ones.
