ZUMO 390 MOUNTING KIT ??

Hi folks, I have a bit of a quandary in regards my 390Lm zumo.

I have it hard wired to my super 10, I'd also like to have it on my xt660z tenere however, it's not possible without having the whole mounting kit/hard wired kit.

So my question is this, where can I get the full hard wire and mounting kit, without having to buy another sat nav ??

Now before anyone says get a ram mount etc it's not possible unless I then remove the main holder all the time...jeez, I hope this makes sense

Nae luck there either. Its seems the only way round it is to buy all the things separately, which turns out to be bloody expensive, was hoping the who;e kit could be bought as one.

I've fitted a cigarette lighter plug to the end of the Garmin lead as I only use a satnav when on longer holiday. I don't need it for everyday use so I want to be able to remove the hardware with ease. The only part that stays on my bike is the U-bolt with RAM ball. This is also handy when parking in the street as the whole gubbins apart from the RAM ball can be removed in a few seconds and stored in a pannier or topbox.

I have one of these 12V/5V USB adapters on the handlebars to supply power to the Zumo & phone http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390662618749 - this can be unclipped with ease too. I have a small Velcro pad on the adapter to clip the Zumo power converter to. The wiring all tucks down inside the fairing, cable tied into a loop.

Therefore, if I wanted to fit the Zumo to a 2nd bike, all I would need is a 2nd U-bolt with RAM ball as long as the 2nd bike has an accessory socket like my old S10 or current MT09 Tracer.

The cigarette lighter plug I use is this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271758749374 - one on the Zumo lead and one on the 12V/5V adapter so everything is powered off the standard 12V socket in the cockpit.

Wessie I can't make out what you're trying to say, however, my other tenere is already hard wired for the zumo but uses the plug in connector but that can't be used when fitting a ram mount as it doesn't have enough space between that plug and the main holder.

You need to find a solution that is not hard wired - so solder a plug onto the end of the Garmin power lead that goes into the accessory socket. That will allow you to swap the whole power assembly to another bike. With the system I have I could easily swap it form a XT1200Z Super Ten to my MT09 Tracer.

Each bike would need to have a RAM ball fitted to the bike e.g. with a U clamp or headstock bolt. This is the only part that stays on each bike when the Zumo is not in use.

Using this system you only need one power lead and cradle for your Zumo which you swap from bike to bike as needed, in about 1 minute

I am not familiar with the Tenere but even if it does not have an accessory socket, it would be a simple job to add one.
