Hi all

I have just picked up a Zumo 400 unit which only comes with the UK & Eire maps. No problems with that, but at some point i would lie to use it for Europe.

My understanding is i can easily purchase a SD card with Euro maps and away i go, again assuming i can still plan euro routes on mapsource and send to the zumo?

Do you still get updates with the Garmin SD card via the Garmin website or would i have to buy a new SD card each time a update come out?

If that was the case i guess the best course of action is to purchase the euro maps on dvd which would allow the usual updates to the computer via lifetime maps downloads?

I would then just highlight the parts of euro mapping i need and send to my own SD card in the device.

Cheapest way to get full European mapping would be to buy a lifetime update card from the likes of Handtec. Not sure how that would work as an update to UK and ROI mapping though, have only applied it to existing full European mapping myself.

You would then have to register the card on your myGarmin account against your Zumo and download the mapping to your PC (for route planning) and your GPS (for use on the road). The option to do both of these is somewhat hidden as a button on one of the screens involved in the process (something like 'install options', a button at bottom left). By default it will install to the GPS only.

That is what i thought myself, but i get the impression that as i only have uk &eire maps it will only apply the lifetime updates to those even though it may have been purchased for whole of europe. So i guess in the first instance i need to get a ealier version of europe maps onto the unit ideally on dvd which should be cheaper and then get the upgrade as it would then apply itself to all.
