I have ordered a zumo 550 for my 02 1150gs. With regard to hardwiring I hear that a permanent electrical feed could be problematic and as such a switched power supply would be desireable.

Having recently wired up a couple of side lights via an auto switch from Nippy Normans, could I feed my sat nav from this switched supply. I reaslise I will only be able to power it when my lights are on.

any advice welcome

Paul

I have a permanently live power supply to my GPS - I prefer it that way. That said, I configured the wiring that way when I had a 2610 (which is devoid of batteries), but even so, I still prefer my Zumo to have a permanently live feed.

Your call ....

I've always hooked my GPS straight up to the battery. The wire is fused so if I'm not going to be using my GPS on the bike for a while I just pull the fuse.

Cookie told me that - he's clever :thumb2

Tap it into the rear light feed. It's switched via the ignition.

Work of seconds.
