zumo 550 lead

just ordered a zumo 550 and i've also ordered the plug & play lead from nippy normans. now the lead says it is 1.5 metres long and i've also ordered the bracket to fit on the screen cross bar. seeing as my bike is a 2009 gsa and has the plug behind the oil cooler 1.5 metres seems awfull long. is it ok to cut and shorten the lead or do you just have to "lose" the cable somewhere ?

Coil it up and cable tie it at the back of the oil cooler..
