Zumo 550 mount adjustment screw moving in situ

I bought a zumo550, mounts fine, push the flastic flap to lock in place, problem is , arrive at destination and lift the flap on the mount to remove the nav unit, it wont come away from the mount and is permanently locked in place.

The adjustment screw on the garmin mount appears to be working loose or tight i dont know which but i am having to use a screwdriver to adjust to screw and therefore holding prong to relinquish the nav unit from the holder/mount.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a cheap fix can the screw be in glued in place blue tac used on the screw etc.?

This happens to mine all the time. Vibration seems to allow the screw to tighten whilst riding. I just take the mini screwdriver with me and loosen when I get there. I think that there is a replacement screw which you can undo by hand.

Not sure if I understood exactly what you meant, but mine locks in tight when mounted in the car cradle. I find the only way to release it is by holding the top/front of the zumo and the back of the cradle & firmly sqeezing the two. The flappy thing then pops up.

I think that there is a replacement screw which you can undo by hand.

Thanks for all replies and suggestions much appreciated given me a few ideas to try not sure i got the mini screwdriver as i bought second hand, that would probably do me.

This is how it's supposed to be. It's a lock screw not an adjuster: Garmin expect you to carry the little knurled screwdriver with you to unlock the bracket when you want to remove the Zumo. Replace it with a finger turn screw, available as described aabove.

The locking screw is held in place by a small washer. If you undo the screw slightly whilst holding the washer, you can raise it enough that it wont engage in the threads of the Zumo unintentionaly.

Whilst it is a bit of a pain to have to get the screwdriver out every now and then I find that the standard Zumo screw tightening itself up is a bit of a good point. When I stop at a garage it is secure enough to stop a chancer nicking it.

Yes I know you should always take it off, put it out of sight etc but I'm blowed if I am going to take the zumo off the bike every time I nip in a garage shop.
