Hi Guys

Just ordered a new Zumo and was wondering where the best place is to mount it on my 1200 ADV.

Any suggestions, pics would be good.

Regards

Doug

The Migsel mount that puts the zumo above the dials is best, I think. Motorrad concepts were doing them and there's at least one reseller in the UK with stock - Sport Touring - 'cos I asked last Thursday. I got what I was after in Saturday's post:D

There's not much wrong with the Zumo supplied mount (IMHO) and putting the unit above the clocks in line of sight isn't such a good idea (again IMHO), it's too tempting to look at it instead of the road!

I tried the OE Ram mount for mine which was fine, but I wanted added security for those moments you want to leave it on the bike but it's out of sight (like paying for fuel).

I've gone with the TT lockable mount and added the extra handlebar crossbar to my standard 1200GS. This works fine, doesn't foul anything else and keeps it close.

Don't underestimate the need to keep it as close to you as you can - bright sunlight  does restrict visibility and the closer the better. If you are going to make adjustments or change views on the move it also needs to be easily reachable without the need to lean out of the saddle.:rob

I am in exactly the same position! However, mounting 'as close as possible' must take into account those of us whose 'arms are now not long enough' without our reading glasses.:rob I tend to look at the clocks when I need to etc.

I like the idea of above and to the left of, the clocks.

(I await the ascerbic comments from some of the elders (Perren dob 13/10/50):mcgun :nenau

Anyone who has a solution, I'd be interested.

The following postions in order of preference:

1) Above the instruments in the middle. You don't look at in preference to looking at the road ahead, but when you do have to glance at it - you don't have to shift your eyes much.

2) On the bar between handlebar sides. This isn't good however, if you have a tank bag.

I have tried all sorts of mounts, Touratech above clocks (oscures clocks), Touratech on top sceen mount (vibrates like crazy) Motorrad Concepts above clocks (too far away. RAM mount on left bar (perfect).

It's easy to see but doesn't obstruct view through screen, it does not vibrate and I can touch the screen without stretching.

This is what mine looks like from my riding position with the Touratech lockable mount.
