I took the plunge and got myself a Zumo 550 for my birthday. It arrived yesterday and I got it mounted to the bike and the Autocom last night. Pretty happy with the stability of the mount, (touch wood), apart from the pain in the arse that is the stupid little security screw. What's the story with that?

Anyway, back on topic. I was going out on site near Derby today which is about 90 miles each way from here so I got a 4GB SD card and put a few hundred MP3's on it for the journey. This morning I put the card in the unit, turned it on and waited for it to boot. After a few minutes I had a look in the MP3 'area' and there were all my songs. Brilliant, I thought. I chose a tune and set it to shuffle before setting off. It worked flawlessly apart from the point where the song finished. All that came through was silence. When I stopped at some lights I chose another song and it did the same again. The MP3 function was a big part of the reason why I got it as I didn't want to use my iPod but I wasn't expecting that.
I looked through all the menus and I saw nothing to fix the problem. :blast

If I look at a song on the unit it comes up as 1/1 rather than 1/398 which I'm sure has something to do with the problem but I don't know how to fix it. I used a card reader to copy the MP3's onto the card rather than connecting the actual Zumo to the computer. Could that be the problem? I checked the file types too and all are MP3's.

Can somebody help me please?

Did you hit 'play all' rather than just selecting one song? I think you have to do this otherwise it has nothing to shuffle.

The 'security screw' is best binned and replaced with a thumb type screw IMHO. Do a search - there is a reference to a supplier on here somewhere.

You beat me to it. I just had a quick look and spotted it. Clearly I am a Muppet!:hide

Did you also split the songs up into separate folders of say 20 songs or so?

Don't worry - I did exactly the same with mine the first time I used it. :)

I'm told that not splitting up the files into different folders greatly increases the boot up time for the zumo.

i have the zumo 400, and can only get 200 odd songs on my 1gig card and about 50 odd in the zumo itself (250 total) is this about right and does anyone know if my 400 will take a bigger card, bought it off flee bay so i have no instructions.

Just relised i have hijacked a thread. Sorry
