As has been discussed on other threads, the latest Europe City Navigator software is too large to fit on the Zumo 550 unit proprietary memory. After doing some more research I decided to put all the mapping on an SD Card.

Here's a thread on Zumo forums that gives further guidance. Very useful.. http://www.zumoforums.com/index.php?topic=12972.0

SD Cards can fail- fortunately they're very cheap, so do get a back-up. A good Sandisk 4GB is around £5 on ebay. This will give you space for all of the mapping (currently 2.43 GB) and space for a few tunes, too.. :guitarist

One tip, for a second card, you don't need to use the map install product which takes ages to copy them on to the card. Simply copy the contents of the Garmin folder on the SD card to your PC, and then over on to the new SD card. You can also leave a copy (perhaps zipped up) on your laptop in case of further need.

Good tip!!

Mapinstall took 2hr15mins to load 2.35GB of Europe onto an SD card. And my computer isn't the slowest out there.

AND use a card reader, so much quicker.
