Zumo 550 PC Connection

OK I'm not too good with the zumo yet so if this is any easy fix pardon my ignorance.

I've not had any problem connecting my 550 to my pc in the past. But now when I try the zumo does the old "preparing for USB mass storage" thing and shows the pc connection, but then I get a bubble message from the pc that says "One of the usb devices attached to the pc has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognise it". To turn the zumo off I have to use the + button and the on/off button together.

I'm off to Morocco next week so want to load the Maroc topo mapping. My 2 questions are:

How do I fix the connection problem?

Is there any way I can upload the Maroc topo using an SD card?

Any ideas?

No Joy

Didn't work JB. I've tried reloading the software on a different pc and I still get the same error. My etrex vista is recognised straight away so it looks like the zumo is the problem.
