Hi all,
Have a 550 fitted to my 07 GSA, Brought it new about 15 months ago. Been great,:thumb2 but when at the wales bash it started playing up,:nenau as in TROUBLE TRACKING SATELLITES. it did it regardless if in bike cradle or not. leaving wales it started working again and has been working without any faults since on a number of trips.:augie

But yesterday started doing the same,:eek::blast though it has been in garage unused for a week, battery fully charged, removed battery and left over night and restarted this morning still no joy TROUBLE TRACKING SATELLITES.:eek::mad: every thing else seems to be functioning OK.:nenau

Any body had this problem or advise Please,:nenau before I contact Garmin :augie

O yes it has all latest software, Thanks :thumb2

Not had that problem, however have had one or two other problems - Freezing of screen, dead battery, dead screen etc etc; I 'm on my third unit!!!!!

There is a master reset; push bottom right hand corner of the screen then leave outside in full view of the Satellites's for an hour or so. However you lose all your settings and routes etc, so down load any you want to keep.

Have a look on here;

More info than you can read.

Never worked from new, master reset was recommended, with no change :( soon to go back to the shop ;)

Not holding out much hope,:mad: master reset done and placed outside, been out there 10 minutes no green bars yet, but people are saying up to an hour so I will wait and see.

Thanks every one for your help, Top people.:thumb2 Tim thanks mate get a bit carried away some times :D

Probably no real help, but my Nuvi did this.......GArmin said that since it was out of warrenty they wouldn't look at it but offered a small discount on a new one. I did all the resets and still no joy. The one thing Garmin did say to me was that not recognising Satellites is almost always a software rather than hardware issue, so make sure you use webupdater to ensure that your operating with the latest version of the software (NOT the mapping software, but the units own operating system). Once you have got the most recent s/w, do a full reset (back to factory conditions)

Eventually, I got to leave it in the outside for an hour or so, and then went on a journey (cage) and after a further hour 'on' it blipped into action then off again after a few minutes, then on again then off again then..........you get the idea! Anyway after about a day of this it has settled down and (I'm crossing my fingers as I type - not easy) its been stable for a week.

Dont ask me - it defies all logic (and I've a background in electronic engineering). So far so good, for the past week or so; will I ever trust it again for a foreign trip......doubt it, so I bought a Quest!

Thanks Vireo,:thumb2 550 has all latest updates and carried out the reset again with no joy.
But popped over to Isle of wight on saturday for flying visit with 550 still not working, parked up at friends house, thought turn it on and see if any thing happens, shock after 10 minutes all bars green. Left it like it for 10 minutes then turned off to see if it would be ok when starting up again, not a bloody thing, what's that all about.:nenau
Any way thought I have another look today before I drop kick it, in to the sea,:spitfire bugger me turn it on all ok, I have taken it out for run all working fine turned it on and off at least 10 times over day all fine.
Trouble is I do not no why its now fine and will it do it again when I do really need it. :nenau
