you have a map on your puter, you have a map on your zumo, you create routes on the map on your puter then transfer the routes to your zumo. try an keep your routes to a easy daily length. if you make more than one route drag them into one mapsource file and send to your zumo

thats not the problem, the problem i have is trying to delete the xml document off the zumo, i delete it, then when i plug it back in, its there again!!!

Tom, your question doesn't make much sense. The maps are already on the Zumo 550 - you don't need to load them again. AFAIK the maps are not in XML files anyway.

Where is the XML file that you're bothered about, and what is the file name?

Roscoff to Alicante is a very long ride, so break the route into sections and try recalculating. Having one huge route leads to problems with recalc times etc. I think there's also a limit to the number of viapoints you can use in a route, so you might have hit this.

PS - just a thought. GPX files are (I think) in XML format. You can use this format to transfer routes to the Zumo SD card. When you plug the Zumo to a USB port, it automatically creates a GPX file (can't remember the name - maybe current.gpx) which contains all the routes etc. on the Zumo ready for transfer to a PC. I don't think the presence of this file has any bearing on your problem with route calculation.

I had this prob and tried averything to sort it in the end a software update sorted it have you got the latest version ?
