ZUMO 550

I know this has probably already been asked, i have just spent the last hour trawling through old threads but cant seem to find the answer to my question?, i have just bought a zumo 550, what is the best way to wire it to my bike, i have a 2002 1150gs, does it have a canbus socket on this model, cant seem to see one , but i might be looking in the wrong place (headstock), if not where does everyone else hardwire their unit too?

Only the later 1200's have the canbus system and the GPS socket by the head stock. On the 1150 just conect it straight to the battery.

couldnt you use the socket near the starter motor for plug in
rather than hardwire?

Thanks Paul for the clarification, i thought i was going blind, will hardwire it to the battery as ime concious that plugging into the socket by the motor might get damaged by my size nines, thanks again
