Hi guys, Looking for advice to a problem with my new Zumo 660. It was working fine in the house, but I had to open the battery compartment again to install a SD Card. Replaced battery & cover, but now unit is giving a start up message of "Close Battery Cover", and it will not proceed further. It is not frozen as it responds to the on/off switch. It feels OK mechanically.
I have tried holding my finger on the bottom right hand side of the screen on start up for reset, removing the battery, holding the on/off switch for 8 seconds or more, but nothing seems to clear this error.
It could be hardware error, but also possibly a software error, though Gawd knows why Garmin deem it necessary to interlock the battery cover. People buy this unit because it is waterproof and are hardly going to leave the cover off - we're not complete cretins!
Anybody seen this error and know how to clear it? I don't see anything in the manual. Maybe it needs a software/firmware flash, but it is software version 4 already.
