hi folks, a bit of help needed.a little while ago i asked a friend of a friend to update my zumo 660 ,anyway today i took the battery out and found a micro sd card in the slot.so i took the sd card out and now the sat nav works but has no roads on ,only as tho you are in a field, everything else works as it should.
is there some sort of master reset i can do to bring it back to factory setting .i have tried the finger over the bottom rhs of the screen but it still does not bring the roads back onto the screen
cheers folks ian

Have you put the micro card, that probably held the updated detailed maps, back in?

yes if i put the sd card back in it works fine ,but i wanted to leave the sd card out ,really because the juctions showed up as like a photo when it was new ,and so much easyer to see at busy motorway intersections .

Garmins update is to large for the 660's internal memory. All the maps are on the SD card.

Do not lose the card ! !

The picture's of the junctions should still work.

You can delete a lot of internal data to make more room (Languages etc ), or load fewer countries than the full Garmin European set.

But if you go down this route, make a copy of the units complete hard drive before you start. If you mess things up, you can always reload the whole hard drive again.

yeh ,when i press the address button it says no data available ,so in effect what you are saying is that it could never go back to what it was before the sd card was installed .

OK, so to be sure:

1. You have put the SD card back in and the detailed maps have returned, so that's your first problem solved.

2. Have you tried putting in a route and riding it, through some large junctions, for instance on a motorway. The 'Lane assist' (the 'picture' that pops up) does not happen at every junction. I guess this is what you are talking about?

i think what it is doing is looking for the maps on the sd card, but i want it to look for the maps on the device ,any ideas

thanks guys,i just thought if i took the sd card out it would just go back to the way it was

As said already the latest map update is too large fit on the device so without an SD card it's a brick. It ain't broke so don't try to fix it.

Sweet Jesus....

Once more, the updated maps are on the card, not on the device. Take the card out and your detailed maps vanish, leaving you with a plastic brick.

Now, having got that cleared up for the second time, create yourself a route that goes through some motorway junctions and see if the pictures pop-up. Report back but only when you have done so.

Merry Christmas and best bikermate wishes for the new year :thumby:
