I'm trying to load my routes/ maps etc for a Euro trip in a few weeks time. However the Zumo 660 will only load up half the routes.
It goes through the process of transferring the maps, but when I start the 660 half the routes are missing.

I have tried
Soft rest
changing the SD card
Loading the routes to the SD card
Loading the routes to the 660

Still the same.

Any thoughts other than buy a new one?

Don't you have Europe maps on there already? How many routes are you trying to load? From Where? How big are the routes? Has loading routes worked before?

A bit more info might bring some sensible replies

John

Europe maps are installed & up to date. I am trying to install 11 routes Frome the UK to the Dolomites & back total size of the file is 1.34mb.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my (admittedly older) zumo 550. I tried to load an 8 day circular route and no matter how I tried, it would not take more than 5 of the legs. Despite saying it had them in routes ready to load.I cleared all 'user data' but still no, despite it apparently being capable of saving 50 routes.

Enjoy the Dolomites, been a number of times. Very good experiences with Hotel Olympia in Arraba.

I think the answer might be in the size of the files. How are the routes created? How many waypoints or via points have you used? Are you using Mapsource or Basecamp? How are you transferring them to the device? Remember those of us trying to help can't see what you are doing so giving FULL details would help

I have just tried splitting the route & reloading with the same results. Looks like I need to source a new one then. Thanks for the response

Just saw your post Grey Goose

There is a total of 41 waypoints & I am using Mapsources with the all the latest updates. I have tried I have used this for the past 4 years with longer routes and have had no previous issues.

As per post 1 I have tried transferring them direct to the Unit and the SD card.

I hope you are better at reading instructions than reading user names! How big is each route? 1.34 mb still seems an awful lot.

Its a smaller file than I used last year. There are 9 routes the file , one for each day of the trip, I cant see how to get the individual route sizes.

The Satnav & PC recognise each other and tells me the transfer is complete, however when I fire up the 660 it wont load more than 5 of the routes. I have tried loading some of my past tours with the same result.

Are they saved as .gpx files? Do you have music on the device? We have just had a guest here who had the device full of his music and therefore we could not download even a short route. We moved the music to the sd card and all was well.
Try copy/paste to put one route on at a time into Mapsource, save the file (as a .gpx file) and then look at the size. Also make sure that you are transferring only routes and waypoints and not maps as well!

good luck

All save as GPX
No music on the device
I'll try the one route

Thanks for the responses John.:thumb2

Seems to be sorted now.

I saved the file to GPX

Did a soft reset and installed a new sim card.

Re-installed Mapsource and did all the updates.

I have ordered a New Sat Nav as well, good job the Wife cant tell the difference between the different ones:augie

I haven't got a 660 but I've got a 220 and a Nav V (and used to have a 550) and the following method works fine on all of these devices:

Save your route file as a .GPX file. (Mapsource: 'Save As', Basecamp: 'Export'. You can have multiple routes in one GPX file.

Use Windows Explorer to copy and paste the GPX file to a sub folder (that you create) on the micro SD card called \Garmin\GPX

You can save multiple GPX files in this folder. When the GPS starts up it will come up with a message about "new data found, do you want to import?". If you say yes, you'll see (after a while) a list of all the routes in your GPX files. You then select which routes to import.

You don't have to import all of the routes at once - you can access the routes to import them under My Data (or similar - the actual button selections differ on the 550, 220 and Nav V).

The real benefit of this method, as compared to using Basecamp or Mapsource to transfer the routes, is that if everything goes tits up on your trip you can always re-import the original route from the file saved on the SD card.

In theory you could have hundreds of routes on the SD card but in practice the device will spend an age listing out all of the individual routes for you to select so it is better to have only the relevant files on the card at any one time.

If you simply import them from Mapsource or Basecamp the same applies. They remain available to import again if anything goes wrong.

Basecamp strikes again!
Going on a two week jaunt to Switzerland and Garda via Black Forest next week and I've spent ages creating routes on Basecamp.
I have 16 routes in all and when I drag & drop them to the 660 (Using PC), the green bar fills up and all seems ok.
However, only 8 routes have loaded.
Prior to loading I deleted all my old routes and cleared the 8GB Micro SD.
I have no music or other data loaded.

Try dragging & dropping all routes onto the SD card & import to device as & when you need them. See if you can get all 16 routes on the card.

Update.....I have exported all 16 routes as .gpx files onto the SD card.
However, I can only import one or two at a time to the unit from the My Data folder.
It states that some routes are too long, and on previewing the route, the times also seem to double when the mileage has not.
This frustrates me immensely as I did not have this trouble on last year's trip down to Austria

1. What is the length (mileage) of the longest route that you can't display on the device?

2. Is the route built with waypoints, as opposed to via-points?

3. How many waypoints or via-points does the route have?

4. Do the mapsets on your computer and GPS device match, easing the device's inevitable recalculation from .gpx into something it can display?

5. Can you ask the 660 to calculate the route itself, start point to end point?

Hi Wapping.
I understand you're a bit of a whizz with these as I've followed your tips on previous posts.

The last route I tried was 253Miles, 6hr 28min with 41 via points, not waypoints.
How do I check whether the mapsets match?
I've just selected address on the unit to create a route and it says no data available!
