Zumo mount

I have my Zumo mounted above the clocks and it is great there, but to take it off it requires deft use of tools, etc. Do you guys leave the mount on all the time, even if not using Zumo. If so is the a cover I can get that would keep it dry, out of sunlight and away from prying eyes.

I don't have it mounted above the clocks, but i remove the mount, just leaving the ball, i have a socket to plug in on me beak, so i just remove it an stash it away, tis easy that way and i can mount it on all my bikes easy

My zumo is on its RAM mount above the clocks, i leave it there all of the time.

But, i have covered the pins in ACF-50 to stop them corroding and rub vasline or something like that into the rubber pin cover, it cracks and perishes quickly

The Zumo Mount Top Screw

Hi there,

We're selling a replacement top screws for the Zumo for 5 Euros, these are stainless steel and can easily be undone with the gloved hand (i.e you don't need the Garmin tool to remove the screw)

I know this is quite an old thread- but someone may be watching... I now have one of those little replacement security screws for the top of the garmin zumo 550 mount (i've lost it a couple of times - its so small - and now found it again). My question is how on earth do you remove the original screw - the one that you use their snazzy security screw to loosen? I thought you'd just need to keep unscrewing and it would lift out but it doesn't. Its obviously simple but I cant work it out. Can anyone help? thanks

Been a long time since I removed the original but I think I pushed it up from the bottom, held it and started unscrewing it. If I remember its just a matter of getting it started on the internal thread inside the mount.

There is a very small O ring on the screw that stops it from falling out.
Try not to loose it, and put it back on when refit your new thumbscrew.

You discuss making the cradle tamperproof and replacing the screw on the cradle, but what about the arm on the mount any opportunist scrote will pull or yank off the power lead, undo the arm and be away so why not make the arm tamperproof

You can also get a locking mechanism for the arm mount. Costs about £12 I think.
