Anyone know if the 12v connector for the Zumo cradle is the same as the 12v connector for the Quest cradle? I have two bikes wired for the Quest cradle & don't fancy re-doing the wiring if I upgrade to the Zumo.
Hi John
I realise what you're saying & assume you mean the cradles are totally different but its the little rubber connector that fits into the back of the Quest cradle that I'm asking about. Do you know if its the same connector that fits the Zumo cradle?
I don't think it's the same but you could do what I did when upgrading from my Quest to my current 2720. I spliced a Tamiya connector into the power lead near the headstock just below the audio lead. The latter only runs back to the cradle. This way I can easily remove the cradle just leaving the RAM ball on the bike and still swap back to the Quest should I ever need to.
I set up the Quest with a Tamiya connector before I got the 2720 anyway so I could remove the cradle when the bike was parked up outside as I heard that there were potential corrosion problems with the contacts on the Quest cradle if exposed to long term rain etc.
Thats the one Bumpkin. I was just about to post a photo but you beat me to it. Excellent idea about the Tamiya connector & I take it you mean "Tamiya" as in radio controlled cars etc.? I have one screwed to the ceiling of my shed that hasn't been used in years! Must get it out for a play.
