You have to excuse Bronco.
they are not the brightest bulbs in the box from Leicestershire. :pullface
i think he meant the garmin zumo.
[i have one :thumb]

I had a TomTom rider... broke my heart, stopped charging when mounted on my moto:(....... I now use a Garmin Zumo 550:thumb2

TomTom V1 had mount problems which are mentioned in abundance on here, TomTom Rider V2 is much better thanks to a new mount.

TomTom gives you mapping updates for free for a year where the Zumo doesnt.

TomTom has on board itinerary route planning (useful for complicated journeys) where the Zumo doesnt and has to be done on the PC.

TomTom has additional features such as Help Me!, Trip Statistics and can connect via your phone for additional features such as traffic, weather, mobile safety cameras etc.

The Zumo has a MP3 feature which the TomTom doesnt.

Both units have fixed safety cameras, postcode navigation, RAM mount, Cardo headset (although some Zumo models dont have this included, only top end) and get you from A to B.

The Zumo is generally much dearer and gives you less but due to a lack of Marketing from TomTom in this market the Zumo generally sells more.

Rider 1 has had issues with the mounts in the past but its important to mention so has the Zumo, particularily where there are plug inputs breaking the watertight seal. As with anything its only as good as its weakest part. Rider 2 is much better and as you would expect I use one on my bike.

I've done thousands of UK miles and around 8,000k European miles in all weathers and heights. I love it and recommend it to anybody I meet.

You can get a Rider 2 for around £300 online in the UK format or £350 online in European format and a Zumo 550 which is comparible costs £430 online with Europe. Retail pricing is considerably more.

Before you buy I suggest you visit a retailer, there is a lot to be said for Ease of Use, you may find one suits you better and is easier to use for your mindset. Be warned of commission based shops trying to sway your decision. :ronno

Route planning can be done on the Zumo Unit, it doesn't need a PC.

I've done this many times when away from home it's not a problem.. :thumb

Without getting into all the plusses and minusses................

You will never regret buying the Zumo..................... You might just regret getting the TomTom............. :rob
