Downloaded the latest Garmin Camera database update Monday night.
This morning driving along the A40 between Stow and Oxford passed 2 cameras no warning at all from the Zumo, I've known that the cameras have been there at least ten years if not longer.
The unit frequently warns of Camera sites that are no longer in existence, and on a 70mph stretch of the A4042 dual carriageway at Pontypool it warns me that I'm on a 50mph stretch of road which is a mobile camera site.
Spoke to someone at Garmin UK this afternoon and told them about the 2 Cameras on the A40 and told him I had the co-ordinates stored in my Zumo, I was told that someone who dealt with that aspect of their service would call me back:rolleyes: suprise suprise no such call.
Seriously unimpressed and starting to think I may have made a mistake flogging my old Road Angel unit and should have kept it for the car.

Why not use the one from here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com ;)

A very cursory check reveals that aside from 'Blackspot' none of the camera databases are kept up to date in realtime, but that doesn't excuse the Garmin data base not having the 2 on the A40 in their database, the cameras have been there for sodding years:mad:

As for joining another forum, I spend far too much time on the Gsers site as things stand now:D

I think the Pocketgpsworld one is updated twice a month - I haven't found a better one yet... If you happen to find one that isn't listed and are the first to send it in then you get a 10 year free membership...

This illustrates why I haven't loaded a Safety Camera d/base into any GPS I own.

It's a poor substitute for the Mk 1 eyeball IMHO.

Agreed :thumb The very first thing I did on my new Zumo was to turn the bloody thing off! It was driving me mad, going off every 30 seconds, what a useless feature.

How do you turn off the camera database?

On the main screen, press the spanner icon.

Scroll down to 'Proximity Points' and press.

Press the 'Change' button.

Un-tick 'Garmin Safety Cameras' and press 'OK'
