What is the traffic like in September

Nice roads you have there Madman . They look pretty traffic free on the video. What is it usually like toward the end of summer, say the second half of September?

The roads are very empty this time of the year, but the traffic will start increasing around May. I tend to avoid tourist traps like Sarlat in August as the town was never designed to cope with all the cars. When the end of September comes the roads will be quieter.
What I forget is that when I say busy, it is never as busy as Cambridge was all the year round. There are more cars in the summer but I have never seen stationary traffic away from the towns.
The French tourists are the best as they are well aware of bikes and will drive on the hard shoulder to let a bike pass, even if there is nothing coming the other way!
