Garmin Rino 520HCx & 530HCx

Gamin have updated the Rino series (GPS with built in FRS radio) so they now take the MicroSD card and have a ‘High-sensitivity receiver’ (which I take to be SiRF Star III, but it doesn’t say) Plus a heap of other Cx type features. This would be a great Bike GPS if it had European PMR instead of FRS, but that’s never goner happen is it? What a shame!

I'm going to buy a couple of these for Moto-Morocco trips........they'll be perfick, one on the lead bike and one in the support 4x4 (even if they are illegal on the radio bit )

As you say, it'sa shame they don't use our frequencies, either PMR or even the CB frequencies....i don't know if the ones they do use clash with anything over here (ATC for example....that might be a bit dodgy) but if they don't, TBH it's pretty unlikely that you'd get caught if you wanted to bend the rules

Not that i'd ever advocate doing that of course
