Hi Folks,
Following the loss of my mum from Ovarian cancer in July last year, my Wife 'Ali' and I managed to raise over £2500 for Clatterbridge Cancer Trust by donating gifts from our wedding last September, and from donations made at Mum's funeral.
This year, I hope to double that figure with a series of events and rides.
There is an opportunity for GSers to get involved in a Raft Race that would help both Clatterbridge and the UK Rafting Team. We took the works do to the Holme Pierpont National White Water centre in Nottingham last July 07 and raced against other corporate teams being guided by the UK National Squad.
If you know the site, there is a campsite, pub and reasonable B+Bs nearby. The Rafting squad put on a party on the Saturday nite, that went on well into the early hours.
All specialist kit is provided as well as prizes for participants, a GBR T Shirt and buff for free.
With the funds raised, the voluntary rafters went to Turkey and came 5th and 8th in the world (Women/Mens teams).
So if we can get a bunch of bikers together, race as a team of 7/8, then we can help the UK Squad, and give a little back for Cancer - and have a brilliant weekend to boot.
