Hi all

A pal and I are planning a trip to the Arctic Circle next year for Mid-Summer day, I suppose we are heading for Mo-i-Rana but I have a couple of questions:
I remember reading sometime ago about a bike meeting / festival on Mid-Summers day, anyone know where it is held ?
Can anyone verify when mid-summers day is next year ? I keep seeing it stated as 21st and also 24th June ?

The longest day is the 21st, Midsummer's day(in the UK at least) is the 24th.

Myself and Garfield were up there for the Summer Solstice earlier on this year. We were dragged kicking and screaming along to the bike rally in Bodø, run by the Bodø MC strangely enough. An amazing time was had, made even more strange by 24 hour sunlight. We climbed a hill (very drunkenly) to view the midnight sun, at about 2 am. Then continued drinking. I must do a ride report.

If you are up there on the weekend of the Summer Solstice, the bike rally will be on. Ask anyone in town where it is, plus you will see lots of Goldwings heading there. Don't let that put you off, they're all a sound bunch and you will be made to feel really welcome and you shouldn't avoid it if you're in the area. Afterwards, you can take the ferry to the Lofoten Islands which should not be missed.

Their website is : http://bodo.mc.no/index.htm You might spot a couple of pics of me and Garfield pished in the middle of the (day)light night. If you need any more info, PM me :thumb

Arctic Circle

Thanks Pog

That was just the information I needed, sounds brilliant. All I have to do now is convince my pal (RT rider) that Bodo is where we should head for.
I will email Bodo MC club for further info'

Like Garfield said;
http://bodo.mc.no/ = Saltfjellrally, Bodø.

And Cowboy Riders MC, Tana had a meeting called Elvetreff (rivermeeting) 20-22 June in 2008 - I do not know the date for next year. No website, but here are pictures from the area: http://www.tanasiden.com/fotoalbum.htm

And this club http://vanaheim.mc.no/ had a meeting 23-25 June in 2008 - perhaps they have a meeting when you are in the area? At Averøy, in Møre og Romsdal.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread,as I am looking to do the same thing myself in 2010....depending if i'm still in the UK or working somewhere hot and hideous.

Depending nearer the time on the route,it may be a straight to the event for me or a drunken meander all over Europe.

Andy.
