wow never thought i would end up in here :beerjug:

Ok as the title says. whats involved in changing the stator on a 1200 sportster with 120k miles :thumb2. A mates bike is not charging (apparently he has a manual but is having trouble finding it :mmmm) I have gone through the tests suggested on a couple of harley sites. and have found there is continuity on the stator connections to earth :(

so before I make a booboo and tell him i can fix it. I want to find out if it is a fecker of a job that needs special tools and its best to tell him to take it to black bear or if I can fix it in his shed in an afternoon. If it was mine I would have no problem pulling it appart to see. but as Its not mine to feck up I would rather find out a little more ( yes I will make sure I have the manual if I decide to do it ). :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2 BM

PS. Is there a motorbinlocks equivilent for harley parts

Ah with a little help from google. I have found out its on the crank behind the primary sprocket. So not as simple as most rice grinders but still doable in the shed :thumb2
