Hello,
I am a recent convert to BMW and new to this forum.

I have recently acquired a 1150 GS on an 04 plate which is currently sporting some tatty Wunderlich engine bars. I was wanting to get them powder coated but one bolt is currently thwarting my plans!!http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/doh.gif

The offending 8mm hex bolt attaches the engine bars to the sump via a transverse 3" hole in the bottom/front of the sump casting.

I got the nut off the nearside but the bolt is stuck fast! Perhaps not so surprising considering it sits in the line of fire of water and muck shed from the front tyre. My question is does anybody happen to know whether the hole in the sump (and within which the bolt is currently stuck) is threaded or not?

The reason I ask is that 10mm of the bolt is now exposed on the nearside and I could consider drifting it through.

In the interim I'll continue with heat and penetrating oil!!

Cheers Damon
