Hi all,
I am looking at some better engine coverage for my 2012 GSA and these bolt on Heed bunker bars look just the ticket. Has anyone used/fitted them? Are they any good? And is there a U.K. supplier for them?
I want to keep the genuine bars for the upper part of the bike as it also has the aux lights on there…….but the genuine BMW engine bars look like they will still allow the rocker covers to hit the floor!
any advice on alternatives greatly appreciated, cheers

I have the Heed lower and upper bars fitted to my GS, i believe the lowers are the same the upper wont be that much different lol

I'll post pics up when i get home

Thank you, I am thinking I will leave all the standard kit on and just add the lower only bolt on bits to protect the valve covers…..would be good to see some fitted,

I have the heed bunker bars (that's the full kit top and bottom) and I am very happy with them , I got mine direct from Poland I think but that was before Brexit so not Shure about importing now.

OK piccys as promised

They look like they cover way more of the engine. Thank you for the pics

Pre brexit I fitted sets to A triumph 800 tiger and a Vstrom 1000, they were good quality, fitted well and had very good and comprehensive instructions

Heed bars on my GS. Same comments as Neil W. Good value.

Not the case now - 2 pages of polish instructions - no torque values

You pay the price advertised, and they refund the vat, and then HMRC takes it back as as import duty lol

I did wonder how it worked…….might just crack on and order the bolt on ones to use with my standard bars

Reserecting this thread as I've a question regarding the HEED full bunker bars.
I recently bought a 2012 r1200gs TC that came with a set of the heed bars attached, they're a bit scuffed but appear straight (although the top m6 bolt on the scraped side appeared to be missing but had actually sheared - sorted now). After 2 weeks of ownership the shocks went to be serviced, so decided to do a few bits and bobs whilst it was off the road. I came to remove the lower bars to sort the broken bolt, check valve clearance and change plugs, when I came to remove the big m12 bolts that are the rear frame mounts i found them finger tight, didn't think much other than the bike needs a bit of tlc. Upon fitting the bars up again the bolts go in but won't tighten! I reckon the threaded mount points on the engine could be stripped...
Anyone had this happen or got any options I can try before I go down the route of a heli coil?
I'm kind of thinking the bars are more trouble than they're worth and may just remove them. Either way I'll need to be able to secure the bolts into the engine and torque them to spec which I can't just now.

Unrelated question, but did you need to remove the bars to be able to replace the spark plugs? Or could it be done with the bars installed?

No bars stay on

When I fitted ine I paint marked them to check for movement, 3 years in. They haven't moved

The bars can stay on if you don't have the BMW cylinder guards fitted. I do so the bars had to come off or be at least be slackened to allow the guards to come off.
