My recently purchased HP2 came with an Akrapovic can. It appears to be a Akra model not specifically for the HP2 for 2 reasons - 1) there are no heat shield mount points, and 2) to achieve the correct perpendicular alignment, the can has to fixed lower (notwithstanding the Holan rack gets in the way a bit).

The low fixing contributed to this dent from the sidestand. The titanium sleeve has a small tear in it.

The correct part number for a HP2 specific can from Akrapovic is S-B12SO3-LTT but it doesn't seem to be widely available new.

Instead of buying a new can, I'd like to buy a repair kit from Akrapovic but I don't know what model can is fitted to my bike. Would someone who has the HP2 specific Akra be able to measure the sleeve length for me? The sleeve on my Akra is 450mm long.

Also, if possible, would you be able to measure the circumference of the sleeve for me?

Thanks in advance.

BTW - any tips or suggestions to fix the can are welcome.

I have the akro on mine and it fits a treat.
Yours is too low and in the wrong place, hence the fact you have dented it.
It should sit well up behind the frames.
Diameter, I cant measure as it may be different not knowing what yours is off..

Yes, I know all that thanks Rocky. I don't have any spare or the OEM slip-ons so I can only ride with what was fitted to the bike when I bought it in March.

I've now received the measurements for the correct HP2 Akra can from another forum. It is 400mm long and 405mm OD circumference (my can is 450mm long and 395mm OD). My task is now to find the correct repair kit for the can on my bike.

I was surprised to have different OD measurements. I wonder if you would kindly measure yours for me; I'm hoping the 405mm reported to me was an error and that 395mm is correct. In that case all I have to worry about is sleeve length.

Cheers

I will do tomorow as soon as I get home...
Are you going to get an extension made for it too lift it higher. As I would think you may do the same again..
Ill take a picture too for you of mine if you want??

Thanks for doing the measurement Rocky. And a picture of yours (with a clear view of the mount at the frame) might be handy if its not any bother for you.

I've already drilled another hole in the mount arm which connects the hanger to the frame. It has lifted the slip-on approx 1" higher. That will have to do for now.

Hi Farcall,
Deja Vu indeed, I see you post on this forum also.
I've checked my measurement, and it definitely is 395mm OD.
Is oval and not round by the way.
Remember mine is the complete Akro system: not sure if the slip-on muffler on its own is the same, but would assume so.

I have a photo of mine, how do I attach it?
I have racks from AfricanQueen, that fit TTech boxes: total width same as handle-bars.
It's a tight squeeze for it between the box and the rear tire if I have a road-type tire: 17-150/70. It JUST fits.
With my Excel rims no problem.
I use spacers to center it, depending on the tires I use.

And it seems as if you have a strange system: it's not only the muffler that's not right, it's the connection to the rest of the exhaust.
I sent you the schematics of mine already: you need a pipe that's angled up.
Your existing one is too horizontal.

As Rocky says, your muffler is way too low: very exposed.
And yours looks round to me, not oval.

The Akro slip-on one goes on the standard BMW OEM System fine.
Look on Max's BMW fiche for a description of the various exhaust/muffler systems.

It has details of the clamp as well.

Yep. That's why I've referred to my Akra as being 'mcguyvered' to fit the HP2. The angles are close enough to get it bolted on but it doesn't look right once in place.

Your reply post over at HP2Enduro def says 405mm OD... but I'm glad you now say it is 395mm, same as mine. And mine is definitely oval, not round.

All I now need to found out what model of Akra repair kit is for a 450mm long slip-on.

Orrrrr....

I buy the HP2 repair kit (400mm) and butcher my mystery slip-on by shortening it down to 400mm, ie shorten the baffle. :eek
And then I go to an exhaust specialist and get a custom made link pipe (it'll be between 50 and ~150mm long) to fix the angle problem. Mmmm... like the sound of it... might mull that over for a while.
