My back lights to the speedo clock has started to flicker when the bike is running every so often. By flicker I mean dull then bright at irregular intervals. As it is just the speedo and I believe that both the rpm/speedo are on a common power supply, I'm guessing that it this is due to a poor connection or an earth fault eg. the cable insulation cracking etc.

I've checked the back the clocks themselves and that section of the loom seems to be in good condition so before I take the tank off (it's full!) is there a connector between the back of the clocks and fuse 8 on the loom as if there is, I'm thinking this could be a good place to start.

Check the multi plugs under tank up near the front.

Plus there's a big crimped together multi earth point in the main section of loom that runs from under the instrument panel. Water gets in the open end of the outer sheathing and over time turns it to mush. But that usually registers as the instrument cluster lights playing silly buggers.

Thanks Neil - will check when the tank's a little less full.
