Dear all GS Riders

SIMON AND MONIKA NEWBOUND
WWW.SPIRITSOFADVENTURE.COM
simon@spiritsofadventure.com

I have had the good fortune to meet Simon and Monika on the road on their way back west from Iran after some three long years and 158,000 Kms to date. I am riding with them awhile on my way west and home which is really exciting and a priviledge indeed.
They are now 5000 Kms only short of the World Record. Please come to lend them your support at the Ace Cafe or the BMF.

Their ride is a Charity one in favour of the Royal Manchester Hospital for Children.

Please note: They are not in the UK for long as they will be leaving after a short while to circumnavigate Africa.

The plans for Simon and Monika's return to the UK and claiming of the World Record are almost complete; this is a long post as there is a lot to inform you of, so please bear with me.

Simon and Monika will be returning to the UK on Saturday 21st May (arriving in Dover) and will be attending the BMF rally where, at 11:45 on 21st May 2005, they will be in the main arena to complete a Guiness World Record there.

They would love to see all their friends, old and new, there or at the Ace Cafe to welcome them back.

Simon and Monika will be taking their first British breakfast in 3 years at the Ace Cafe in North London from 07:30 on Saturday 21st May, prior to making the final trip to the BMF to claim the World Record, so if you are able to meet them for Breakfast between 07:30 and 08:45, please come along.

CAN YOU HELP?
If anyone lives nearby to the Ace Cafe and can offer Simon and Monika a bed for the night of Friday 20th May 2005, then please email Simon asap with your name, address and phone number. If you have your home's GPS co-ordimates, that would help them no end too. Worse scenario, they are willing to camp in your garden!!

As stated above S and M will be at the Ace Cafe from 7:30 and the
initial plan is to leave the Ace Cafe, after a nice breakfast of cause, at 8:45 and proceeding to Peterbough. We need to be at Gate 3 no later than 10:45 so that we can be escorted to the Main Arena staging area. If anybody would like to ride with us from the Ace Cafe to the BMF then
please ensure that you are there by 8:40 at the latest. On arrival at the BMF, those without Exhibitor pass's will need to park in the main car parks and make there own way into the Rally.

Those members of the club who are on the stand, and find 6am too early a start, there is still a chance to be there at the main arena for when Simon and Monika arrive, the BMF have kindly agreed to escort any members of the club from the Stand to the main arena in time for the 11:45 start, but again, they need to know numbers of those that would like to be escorted (with bikes) from the club stand to the main arena,
can can you please let me know via PM. The time that you need to be at the stand to be escorted is yet to be confirmed, but would expect it to be around 11 to 11:15.

Simon and Monika will be doing a lap around the arena as part of there 15 mins and would love members of the GS RIDERS to be with them on this lap, and to be in the arena with them during there presentation in the main arena, so please lets welcome them home in the same style with which we wished them farewell 3 years ago.

Their pending achievement is an extraordinary one as I am sure you will all agree. Looking forward to seeing you all at the ACE CAFE at 08:00 on 21st May 2005 or at the BMF.

Anyone else going to be there or will I be the only one?

Hoping to arrive early and follow up to the BMF.

Iain

Thanks for your help

Or it might be this one, I can't remember

Simon and Monika Newbound (founders of the GSCLUBUK) will be returning to the UK over the weekend of 21-22 May, after 3 years to the day since they left, and will be at the BMF rally (same venue they departed from) on the Saturday arriving in the arena at approx 12 noon to claim the Guiness Endurance World Record, currently held by Chris and Erin Atay of the USA.

I think you will find that the record they are claiming is the "longest continuous motorcycle journey by a motorcycle team".

Current holders are Chris & Erin Ratay (USA). You can see their website at www.ultimatejourney.com, where they go into lots of detail about the record. Chris and Erin were also in the 2005 GWR Book.

But how can it be called continuous, did they not return home and take a 3 month break last year?

Just in case

anyone missed the new posting- Simon and Monica are going directly to the BMF due to shortage of time. They will not be going to the Ace Cafe saturday morning.

However, they do intend to be at Watford Gap Services (Northbound) for breakfast from 7 a.m. with the following itinary to the BMF:

Leave Watford Gap approx 8am
Leave M1 at Junction 18 and take the A5
Passing thru Catthope and picking up the A14
Passing the Rothwell Lodge Service Area (Note not stopping)
Passing the Kettering East Connect (Note not stopping)
Leaving the A14 at Junction 13 and picking up the A605
Passing the Fox Inn on the A605 (Thorpe Waterville)
Passing the Peterborough Service Area on the A605
Picking up the A1 off the A605 and taking the A1 North
Then onto Gate 3 of the BMF for approx 09:30.
