Right folks, Bert says he needs another £1510 to make his trip worthwhile - this is for essential medicines for the orphanage in Mopti. Nothing fancy, just life-or-death stuff for the kids. He needs it by 20th November - a week to go. I know that we are asked by a lot of people for money for a lot of worthwhile causes, but this one is worth it.

Why?

Because ALL of the money Does Something Good. It saves lives. Bert doesn't piss it up the wall. He doesn't spend it on fuel. He doesn't spend it on admin or or advertising. He spends it on Drugs That Save Lives. End of.

So here's the Big Gesture Deal - whatever Bert is short by this time next week I will make up the difference.

There's normally some sort of heart-tugging appeal at this point, but I haven't got one. All I know is that Bert is a sound bloke and this trip will make a difference to a lot of kids. Yeah, they're thousands of miles away, and you'll probably never know them or meet, but if you do contribute some money their lives may be turned around for the better.

So if you can, please do. If you have - make sure I have your address so I can send you a sticker. :thumb2

Ta.

David

That's a very generous offer David, and, as I understand it, you are offering to underwrite the difference between what Bert raises in the next week and the £1,510 he needs to make it viable.

If I have understood that correctly then I'll match your offer and reduce your liability to £755 (50%) by underwriting the same amount - hopefully others will join in but either way Berts' money is guaranteed.

WOW ! I do keep falling off my PC stool in amazement :D- note to self to get a chair!! Thanks so much :thumb2 - awesome

Marjorie & David

:bow I am in awe of your sustained efforts and personal sacrifices to make this third mission another winner for those wonderful children so far away. Words fail me but I thank you from the bottom of my heart on their behalf. :clap

These medicines save lives and it is not inconceivable to think and hope that, perhaps, one of those lives saved may grow to become someone special who will also work and use his or her skills towards helping others and in in doing so, make a better world for all.
And even if this is not to be, your work and donations go directly to overcome their illness and give them a better crack at life it self.
Something , I am confident, all those of you who are parents would want for your own children.

May I take this opportunity to thank all GS'ers and non motorcyclists who also read this board, named and unanmed who have /are helping these missions get under way.:thumb2

I’ll transfer some money today.
Is this where its to be sent ?

I am skint at the moment but i will auction something if this can be sorted.
How it could work is that i will auction a course and the winning bidder pays their money direct to Bert. The auction items can be claimed/booked at the winning bidder's convenience....

My Auctions items are for:

A two day Bushcraft Course (can take up to 6 people. bid for one place)

A days open canoing or Kayaking open to any level of ability.

All the courses or session can be delivered in the North West of England. Fully qualified instructors. If there are any questions you can email me at [email protected].

Bert's reply
Jonny - brilliant initiative - thank you :thumb2

A bushcraft course sounds like something I'd like to do - I've no idea what to bid though? What would I usually expect to pay for this?

Just to bump this:

There are times when the peeps on this board can be pretty dam humbling. :thumb2

I'll sort a transfer when I get home tonight.

Best of luck Bert :beerjug:
