320mm brake upgrade for R80G/S

Siebenrock buy them from HE.

Looking at the Siebenrock catalogue last night and you can see the HE on the caliper adapter ;)

Is there a need to change the lower brake pipe as the Siebenrock catalogue says? If so, then the Wunderlich option looks interesting as it has a floating disc as well.

Wunderlich for the para: http://www.bmwbikebits.co.uk/products/product-2630-Wunderlich-GS_Brake_Tuning.htm

Doesn't seem to have the mono option, only this comes up for the G/S: http://www.bmwbikebits.co.uk/shop/item.asp?itemid=2526&catid=

Weird isn't it? Got a quick response from both Siebenrock and HE ( and yes you do need the full length brake hose on a G/S...not looked up the paralever ) and Siebenrock are 20 Euros cheaper than HE !! They (Siebenrock) are going to call me for the order/bank card details etc.:bounce1

Still a shame a British company couldn't match the order though:(

Stoppies here I come !!!:guitarist

Had a look at maxbmw parts site, and the G/S, early para and the PD all have the same type of set up ie "pipe" below the cross clamp and "hose" above it. All three type have different part numbers though :blast

So if I was to bet I'd say the para's also need the extra hose :(

Can you tell us what the total cost will be ie 320mm disc + bits + hose + delivery etc?

John this is the email from HE in Euros for a G/S :-

Hello,
the brake-kit cost 260,--
A pair of new brake-pads from Lucas cost 25,-- if you want
You need a new brake-line - complete flexible from master cylinder to caliper.
Or you have to replace the fixed pipe with a longer fixed pipe
to reach the new position of the caliper.
A complete flexible brake-line ( Stahlflex from Spiegler ) cost 55,--
Shipping to England cost 18,--
You have to pay first - if the money is in we will send the goods.
Please give the complete volume of your order and than I will make the invoice.

Regards, Alois Weibhauser

I'm getting mine from Siebenrock who charge 20.85 for postage

Thanks :thumb2

So for your set up it's €360 approx including shipping, but the Wunderlich one is £315 excluding shipping. But inter UK shipping should be cheaper, was for me to send bits to NI compared to Eire. So assuming £10 for the Wunderlich one that's £325.

Motorworks one is £285 for my bike plus another £50 (guesstimate based on your pipe price) for the pipe plus £10 delivery = £345.

Assuming £0.90 = €1 the Siebenrock price is £324. Motorworks £345 and Wunderlich £325.

So is 320mm v 300mm much better, when the 300mm has a floating disc?

OK..phew I'm brain dead....having received some offline advice..both the Siebenrock and HE are now ( 'cause of the increasing Euro exchange ) more expensive than Motorworks....so have just ordered the brake kit and (went a bit mad ) a slipstream deflector ( fairing to you and I ) from them..as they are the cheapest at the moment !!!

Thanks to all who helped:clap ..good learning curve for me :)

I have the full MI kit

With a Brembo 4 pot knock off of some sort.
Good modulation, I need to ride some more before final judgment, I rode only 70 Km till now...in the rain. it was terible at the start, but became better and better. as I wrote, modulation is already significantly better, but not as powerfull as I think it should be.
This saturday I go for a more significant ride. I'll try to break it in real good this time.
I'll report

I ordered the stainless steel fork brace from Boxertools and that came the next day ( ish ) but in fairness to Motorworks:bow I also ordered an OE screen as well...so when they are both in then they will send them. G/S covered in welding dust at Verns at the moment......he is well on the way to making his panniers fit an airhead:bounce1
Incidently a friend got me to order a second stainless steel ( they do look the business) g/s monolever fork brace from Boxertools but he has just lost his job....so not even out of the packaging and has to sell:(. He wants £70 delivered if anyone interested before it goes on Eblag? Won't fit a paralever though.

This is my one :P( identical to my friends )

Motorworks tell me the Siebenrock brake kit still hasn't come in....but my fairing ( and the uber rare stencil/fitting kit ) arrived today:bounce1
Just needs a lick of paint as all new ones arrive in primer. New one worked out cheaper than some s/h ones from Germany

Still no sign of the Siebenrock brake kit though :(

Just browsing Boxer Supplies website and I see they are now offering a 4 piston caliper for the 320mm upgrade disc for those that have it or as a complete kit including the 320mm disc.

I've got a spare oilhead Brembo, works nicely with that disk as well:
