calling all experts, calling all experts-my potentiometers just arrived, question is am i better off removing the lambda sensor completely or running both the lambda and co2 pot.the bikes a little lumpy at low revs when first fired up but once fully warm runs ok,and plugs are a little sooty.which way do you turn the adjuster to lean the mixture out.where in the rev range does this co2 adjuster come into play,at the moment i,m experimenting between beige ccp and no ccp,if i set the co2 to 2.2 will it make any differance if i run with a ccp or not.any ideas

I was recently where you are with my 1100, it has the co pot as standard, if your bike has the lambda sensor then is it an 1100? I think you either have the lambda sensor or the co pot
I ended up using my beige ccp and turning down (clockwise) the co pot using a co meter to achieve the desired mixture, my bike ran too rich without the ccp.

Run with the lambda and Co pot ?

They both do the same thing, one manually the other automatically.
Don't know of anyone who's run them both together, whats the point ?.

I expect juggling with those and the options of with and without the ccp plugs will give us all hours of amusement at your increasingly frustrated posts. :D

thats what i like best about this site, you get good serious, highly interlectual posts and you also get mad, braindead, and highly amusing posts and thats where i fit in:thumb anyway i,ve unplugged the lambda,re-fitted the co2 pot and at first did,nt feel any differance but turning the adjuster clockwise 4-5 turns i,m 100% certain the bikes alot smoother, after a good motorway run the plugs are a light grey/browny colour, anyone near sunny brum with a co2 tester?

Here#s one in the latter category: if the CO pot is fitted, where can it be found?:hide

Look up under the rear mudguard R/H side, you'll see a small round hole, look up into it and you'll see the CO pot adjusting screw.

Thanks all!

Found it! A final question or two ...

What's the default setting?
Which way to weaken / enrich the mixture?

Both my bikes have a pot. Neither has ever had any CCP of any colour. As I understand it the pot adjustment richens or weakens the mixture at tickover and slightly higher revs ( a bit like the pilot jet on a carb); the TPS voltage setting influences the point at which it takes over mixture control. The key to avoiding surging in my experience is to adjust pot and the TPS so that there is a smooth transition from one to the other. Personally I don't believe there is a universal optimum setting for the TPS. This could all be b*llox, but it works for me.

Mentioned this here before.. My orignally German import 1100 had a Cat in the exhaust with the obvious Lamda sensor... BUT it also has the CO pot fitted.

The German exhaust came off.. (replaced with an unused UK spec original). the Lamda was removed completely and the bike runs like a dream.. and has no CCP fitted.

prior to this the main problem was excessive fuel use and heavy sooting. (both plugs and can end)
